This policy covers every page on chatwithpdf.tools: Chat with PDF (/), its PDF tools, Chat with Excel (/excel/) and Local GPT (/local-gpt/).

The Short Version

Your files never leave your device. We don't collect, store, or transmit your files or chats.

How It Works

Files are read in your web browser: PDF with pdf.js, Excel and CSV with SheetJS, Word (DOCX) with mammoth.js. In Browser AI mode the AI model runs locally on your device via WebGPU. No file data is sent to any server.

What We Don't Collect

• Your files (PDF, Excel, CSV, DOCX or text you paste)
• The content of your files
• Your chat conversations with the AI
• Your API keys (stored only in your browser's localStorage)
• Personal information or user accounts (there are none)

API Key Mode

If you choose to use your own OpenAI or Anthropic API key:

• Your key is stored only in your browser's localStorage
• API calls go directly from your browser to the provider (OpenAI or Anthropic). Only the extracted text and your question are sent, to the provider you chose.
• Our server never sees, proxies, or logs these requests
• The provider's own privacy policy applies to data sent to their API

Stored in Your Browser

These values stay in your browser's localStorage on this address and are never sent to us: theme (chatwithpdf_theme, chatwithexcel_theme, localgpt_theme), AI model choice (ttdu_ai_choice), models that failed to load on your device (ttdu_ai_failed) and your optional API key (chatwithpdf_api). Downloaded AI model files are kept in your browser's cache storage. You can delete all of them with your browser's "clear site data".

Moved Tools

On 2026-10-13 Chat with Excel and Local GPT moved here from chatwithexcel.tools and localgpt.tools (and from their pages.dev addresses). Browsers keep storage per address, so anything saved at the old addresses (model choice, API key, theme, downloaded model files) is not available here. You can clear it by visiting your browser's site settings for the old address.

How to Verify

Open your browser's DevTools (F12), go to the Network tab, and use any tool. You'll see zero file-upload POST requests.

Static Hosting

This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages as a static website. Cloudflare may collect standard web server logs (IP addresses, timestamps, page URLs) as part of their hosting service. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

Cookies

We do not use cookies, tracking, analytics, or ads on this site.

Model Downloads

In Browser AI mode, your browser downloads the AI model files directly from huggingface.co (Hugging Face; large files come from its delivery host cdn.hf.co) and the model runtime library from raw.githubusercontent.com (GitHub), and keeps them in your browser's cache storage. These hosts receive your IP address and normal request data. Your files and chats are not sent to them. This site's own code, libraries and font are served from this site.
